Robert J. Smith

Robert has over 26 years of criminal justice experience to include investigations of criminal matters, polygraph examinations, dignitary/personal protection of executives. He has instructed and guest lectured at the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Probation, and the Virginia School of Polygraph. Robert has extensive skills and experience in interviewing. His experience in investigations includes: homicide, drug trafficking, rape, sexual assault, serious child trauma and child sexual exploitation on the internet, pedophile and child sexual abuse, domestic/family related issues. Robert’s investigative experience allows him to provide all clients with the most professional and indepth detailed polygraph examinations. Additionally, Robert is a currently a Virginia licensed Private Investigator.

He constructed the course material and test questions for the convicted sex offender probation conditions approved by the American Polygraph Association and being taught at the Virginia School of Polygraph for new polygraph examiners. He has worked, trained and/or lectured to the following agencies, departments and organizations on various criminal investigations, and polygraph topics: Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), Virginia Beach Police Department, Norfolk Virginia Police Department, Fairfax County Police Department, Chesterfield Sheriff’s Department, National Child Exploitation Agency, Fairfax County Police Victim Services Unit, Metro Washington Airport Authority and the Virginia Department of Corrections. Robert has worked extensively monitoring convicted sex offenders, and with behavioral health professionals throughout Virginia and Maryland.

Robert graduated from the Virginia School of Polygraph and is Board Certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR), North Carolina Private Protective Services Board, State of Maryland and Washington D.C. as a Polygraph Examiner. Additionally, he has obtained certification in advanced and specialized training for Post Conviction Sex Offender testing. Robert is currently a full member in excellent standing with the American Polygraph Association, the Virginia Polygraph Association, the National Polygraph Association, and the British & European Polygraph Association.

Michael (Eddie) Lane

Mr. Lane has a total of 37 years of law enforcement experience and is a retired North Carolina State Highway Patrol Sergeant and former head of NC Highway Patrol’s Polygraph Program. He continued his law enforcement career, after his retirement, with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office. He devoted this time as a detective and primary polygraph examiner until his second retirement in 2009. That same year, he opened his own private polygraph company, Eastern North Carolina Pre-Employment and Polygraph Services, Inc., which he currently owns and operates. Mr. Lane is a graduate of the Virginia School of Polygraph and specializes in the field of interviews and interrogation. While in law enforcement, Mr. Lane received numerous valor awards to include: Lifesaving, NC Highway Patrol Officer of the year and the NC Governors Award for Bravery and Heroism. Mr. Lane is a certified instructor in Firearms, Radar, Defensive Driving and Interview and Interrogations, which is his specialty area in the field of polygraph. Mr. Lane has trained hundreds of law enforcement officers and private examiners domestically and abroad in interviewing and interrogations but not limited to criminal investigations, but also for Post North Carolina Polygraph AssociationConviction Sex Offender Testing examinations as well as non-criminal interviews and polygraph examinations, such as pre-employment screenings. Mr. Lane has held office in the past and is currently the President of the NC Polygraph Association. He possesses a certificate in NC in Advance Law Enforcement, Certified Law Enforcement Polygraph Examiner, and Certified in Post Conviction Sex Offender Testing and is an APTAC Certified Interview and Interrogation Instructor. Mr. Lane is the primary interview and interrogation instructor for the Virginia School of Polygraph.

Antoinette Rudolph

Upon receiving her BA, Mrs. Rudolph taught social sciences (psychology, sociology and history) in secondary education. During her later years in the teaching field, she dedicated the remainder of her career with troubled children who were unable to focus in mainstream classrooms. In so doing, that experience allowed her to confidently embark on a new career within the entity of investigative services. She graduated from the Virginia School of Polygraph and is currently a full-time examiner with Smith & Associates Pre-Employment and Polygraph Services. A good standing member of the American Polygraph Association, she has conducted pre-employment and specific issue testing for public safety agencies, private security companies and the private community sector. Additionally, Mrs. Rudolph is certified to perform post-convicted sex offender polygraph testing. She exercises an in-depth knowledge of polygraph chart analysis and interpretation, processes and disseminates status information to provide timely reports, and has the ability to implement sound judgment through all phases of polygraph examinations. Mrs. Rudolph demonstrates exceptional written and oral communication skills, impeccable attention to detail while maintaining a high level of confidentiality at all times related to sensitive information. She is equally effective in remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient while working well with diverse clientele.

Brad Hughes

Mr. Hughes has devoted the past 14 years of his career as an at-risk counselor to the abused, abandoned and neglected youth that have lived in group homes and residential treatment centers. Throughout the entirety of his profession, Mr. Hughes has been an effective liaison between the children and older adolescents and their parents, school staff, clinicians and other outside resources to determine appropriate placement and treatment strategies with regards to community safety concerns. Moreover, he has a thorough understanding of counseling and treatment, juvenile law and crisis intervention techniques. In addition to his immeasurable expertise in the preparation of individualized case histories, legal documents and reports, Mr. Hughes is currently managing sex offenders in the community with the assistance of polygraph testing. He has dedicated the past eight years into the field of post convicted sex offender polygraph testing at the Virginia Department of Corrections. In an effort to deter sex offenders from recidivating and identifying their psychological needs, Mr. Hughes reviews documentation collected and discusses the appropriate relevant issues with the applicable supervisory specialist (i.e. probation/parole officer, treatment provider or both). With his considerable judgment and analytic ability to handle complex cases, Mr. Hughes inspires trust and confidence within the community. He is a licensed polygraph examiner and is a good standing member with the American Polygraph Association (APA) and abides by the strict standards of conduct and ethics in polygraph testing imposed by the APA.

Nathan Perkins

Mr. Perkins began a career in education and then as a mental health clinician. While a clinician, he worked with a variety of clientele, which included convicted felons and more specifically convicted sex offenders. That working experience led him to make the decision to become a polygraph examiner and he proceeded to attend and graduate from the Virginia School of Polygraph. As an examiner, he has worked in coordination with many different public and private agencies which has included offering polygraph examination services for police and fire departments in Virginia and Washington D.C., social service departments, mental health hospitals, Department of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice, and multiple private mental health providers in the treatment and evaluation of adult and minor sex offenders. In addition, Mr. Perkins has worked with military personal and aided in other legal matters as well as aiding private citizens in resolving their personal matters through polygraph testing. Aside from conducting polygraph exams, Mr. Perkins has also aided in the instruction of Post-Conviction Sex Offender Testing through the Virginia School of Polygraph and is a member in good standing with the American Polygraph Association as well as the Virginia Polygraph Association.
